There is a new T.V. Show dedicated to the Guinness Book of World Records which will air nationally in early 2010. Strictly BMX has been asked to participate in finding a rider who will attempt to break the current world record of “the most 180’s in 60 seconds” The world record is 34 – check the video here.
Anyone is welcome to enter and you can use any type of bike you like, we will have a practice setup at the store each day from 12 noon onwards the rider that gets the closest to the current record will receive $250 and appear on national TV! The cut off date is jan 5th. Here’s a little more info...
This new half hour prime time family show pits Aussie record-breakers against the world as each week they attempt to bring another Guinness World Record home to Australia… The audience will watch the Guinness World Records book come alive in front of their eyes, with the craziest, funniest, and sometimes even downright silly world record attempts!
With an emphasis on the very humorous and very physical, Australians are challenged to beat the record ‘for their country’. Patriotism and ‘Aussies taking on the world’ is a very important theme… Everything featured on the show is a genuine Guinness World Record attempt and if successful, will be recognised as an official Guinness World Record. We have a Guinness World Record adjudicator at every record attempt to officiate and rule on the results.
A ‘switch’ is defined as a jump made from a stationary position that causes the bicycle to turn through 180º (so that the rider is facing the opposite direction).
1. For this record it is necessary for the bicycle to be raised off the ground, with each wheel resting on a platform.(eg- pallets) The switches must be made between these beams. Each beam must be at least 10 cm off the ground and the wheel resting area be no wider than 10cm.
2. Only complete switches made within the 1 minute may be counted.
3. Any suitable standard bicycle may be used for the record attempt (e.g. mountain bike, BMX etc). It is up to the person attempting the record to choose the bicycle most suited to setting the record, and no distinction will be made between attempts made on different types of bicycle. In this context ‘standard’ means a bicycle featuring all the components generally found on that type of bicycle. All components must be commercially available.
*also we will accept video entries. Upload your attempt online and email info@strictlybmx.com the link.

Scottish John has added his 87 & 88 Haro's to his ever expanding collection. He's also picked up a very early 1st generation Haro Freestyler built by Torker TXX 106 F. The serial number could make it the earliest Haro in existence! No doubt he'll restore that to it's full original glory as well.

What a weekend for HRVfitness. All the boys performed well, nothing better than looking up on the gate in the finals and seeing all the HRV boys representing. Olivier did a great job on both Saturday and Sunday making finals in the elite and AA class. He came away with a 3rd & 6th in the Victorian title final. I managed to put a few good races together on the Sunday, after winning the semi final I was looking the good heading into the final. But when the gate dropped in the main I hesitated a little due to the wet conditions and that was enough to put me back to 4th.
Jaden put on a great show as he dominated all weekend and came home strong to take the win in the 10 boys. Madison also did a fantastic job, making the final in 3 classes. The little guy has only just got back on the bike after a few months off but is looking like being back in top form in no time at all.
Tony.
