Here's a look at Fly's new brake cable. It's a linear, Teflon coated cable which allows your brakes to still work well when your bars are spun around. Fly have designed new cable ends which are cone shaped and pushed into a CNC'd end cap. This will stop the inside of your cable pulling through, keeping your brake feeling tight and smooth. Quality stuff from Fly and they're available Here.

Chelsea Skate Park. The tranny killers came out of the woodworks to shred the revamped Chelsea mini and infamous hip. BMX young gun Dylan Bailey oozed style with a foot plant over the hip but it was Dougie Bauer that took out first place (rad 360 ET bro!). Brothers Jai and Tom Bradley both took podium places with Caleb Johnston sandwiched between the pair. Open rider Nik Ford put in a solid effort repeatedly axing himself on a toothy out of the park onto gravel. Toshio just whipped out on a flair whip (see what I did there?). Jake Dizzy and Jack Kizzy* took out the opens in first and second place. *Kizzy is not actually Jack Kelly’s nickname. Check out the BMX Scoreboard here Big Thanks to our Sponsors: Dekline Shoes, Protec Helmets & Strictly BMX Next heat is Junction (Camberwell) Skate and BMX Park this weekend Saturday 22nd May.

Fly have released their new brake pads and there's a bit more to them than meets the eye. They've design a new female bolt 2 washer system to get rid of all of the washers usual associated with pads that can be a pain in the ass. The pads have a lower profile and are shorter and wider so more of the braking force is centered and they come in 3 different compounds. Soft: Clear, Medium: Black, white & purple and Hard: Red. Check them out & buy online here.

Myself, Phill and Downy headed out East too ride Trafalgar, Warrigal and some crazy vert bowl in Neerim South. Joined by Andrew Grimes, Jay Boorman, Michael Oakley, Andrew Ahumada (mini), James Bryant (sauce), Nick Cunningham (Metallll Nick) and Sean on his new custom Cardona for it's maiden ride. Everyone had a really chill day, eating some random truckstop food and and crying with laughter at the local graffiti wall. We also did some riding with "mini" flairing everything anyone told him too and Grimes flowing bowls chainless which he snapped at the first park. Great weekend allround. -Kyle

SEL Heat 9: Ringwood (Sat 1 May 2010)
Ringwood, Ringwood, RINGWOOD, RINGWOOOOD, RINGGGGGWOOOOOOOOD!!!! Note: Locals make a note of regularly yelling their suburb name just in case you forget (they’re nice like that).
First-up we had the BMX and it was refreshing to see some street rippers dominate this course. Some highlights from the 16 & unders include: Connor’s 3-whip, Daniel “Ranga” looky-360 was dope and props to Tom sticking a trucky flyout.
The opens really stepped it up with M.arnold taking out the comp with bowl steez, tooth grind then gapping out of the park from the small quarter. Special mention to Luke trying decade (next week bro free slushie from rivers if you land it), Dylan’s huge 360 out of the park from the big bowl (crazy!) then a oppo hanger, Matt’s ice the 7 and not to forget Luke Parker’s double whip airs then a huge backy to fakie on the quarter sooooooooo good!
Check out Ringwood BMX results here Check out the BMX League Scoreboard here |

In the history of BMX there has never been a team like this; 3 X #1 Australian titles in 3 different classes. Olivier Hoarau started the week off on Thursday with the final round of the National Champbikx/ Probikx series. The big guys was looking strong as he led the field in the semi final, but put the bike down through the technical pro section and ended up breaking his wrist, putting him out for the weekend.
The next rider to step up to the plate was 10 year old Jaden Rice. Rice looked good in qualifying but when it came to the final the little guy put the peddle to the metal and stormed home to take the win. But he wasn’t done there; he then came back on Sunday to take the win in the 8-10 boys cruiser. Two classes, two wins. Not a bad day at the office for Jaden.
Brandon Te Hiko was in devastating form all weekend and showed no signs of slowing down in the final. Brandon smashed the field from start to finish and came away with his first Australian Title.
HRV took up the challenge in the 30+ Masters class, with plenty of competition from former world champions this was going to be an action packed final. The gate dropped and HRV was spat out the back but managed to find some space down the first straight and slotted into third out of the first turn. Then with some crazy cornering he set up a run into the third straight and managed to take the lead as he headed into the final stretch. HRV took out his first Australian Title in 10 years. HRVfitness would like to thank all their supporters and sponsors. Intense BMX, Skin Industries, Strictly BMX, BMXPress magazine, DNAnutrition.com.au, Altegra and Phire Bird. Above... HRV and Jaden Rice fresh after his win!! |
